Hello Week Four

As the reading assignment indicates, we enter a new area of investigation: Fables and Myths. The video for the quiz will talk about The Giver.  You should read between this week and after the break, for first six chapters of Unwind.

And you have
notes for all the reading.

Here you will find three videos.

The first
, approximately 30 minutes in duration, provides an introduction to the week and briefly discusses the material in our anthology you will read this week. You will find another video over the same material that I updated; this video talks as well about revisions for your Alphabet Book essay.

In addition, the following video offers a fifteen-minute discussion about the upcoming
Midterm Examination you will take between Monday, March 9 and Friday, March 20.

I also made the following half-hour video to introduce you to the first six chapters of The Giver,  a text we will not read.  But I will also post video for Unwind.

I made a short video to prepare you for this week's quiz--twenty-five questions.

Make sure to read the notes for the week, for they will help you do well on the quiz and on the discussion threads.

This week the quiz will remain up until midnight Monday of next week, March 19.

As usual, I address all the correct responses to the quiz questions in the video discussion.

Greetings For Week Three

These past two weeks presented you with extensive reading in Fairy Tales or Wonder Tales.

Pace yourself and get often and early to this week's discussion threadsthat provide you with interesting areas of investigation, including a couple zany cartoon versions of "Little Red Riding Hood."

Here you will find a general introduction to the work over the past couple weeks.

We, of course, do not read Ella Enchanted, so do not worry about mention of this excellent revision of a familiar wonder tale.

Enjoy a good week.

Week Two Introduction

Hello Everyone,

I offer two 30-minute videos here.

The first video provides an introduction to Week Two and the assigned readings other than the novel.

This initial 30-minute video talks about a few class matters, including the first essay, and offers a brief introduction to this week's reading assignment. And make sure to read all four sections of the notes for this week (and next).

The second video addresses the first ten chapters of our Fairy Tale novel, Ella Enchanted.

Of course, we now read Doll Bones.  But you can make use of these videos for an essay.

Introduction to Children's Literature, Spring 2016

Florida Scrub Jay

Dr. Bill Clemente

Welcome to the class.

This video offers general information about the class, and another video will  help you with the quiz.

I made these videos this past summer, so bear that fact in mind as you listen--do not worry, for example about dates, and this class does not have a proctored final examination; nor will your write more than one Book Analysis Report.

Also, novels have changed from Skeleton Man to Doll Bones; from The Giver to Unwind.  To that end, I will make some new videos for the novels and for quizzes.

I will keep you informed about the changes.

When you have questions, e-mail me right away, for I check the mail frequently.

So get to the reading and to the discussion threads and begin with term with vim.
